David explains that men have six insecurities which ruin their chances of being successful with women. I was always very shy while talking to girls, but all changed after I read the book. The book also contains an exercise for self-development and complete confidence in yourself. I noticed a great change in myself after reading the book. It includes aspects like how to react in a given situation, etc, and you just don't need to learn anything. The book gives suggestions for self-improvement which is required for being successful with women. It focuses on some important areas like initiating a conversation, sustaining attraction and then taking it to the physical level. It has more than just tips to impress a woman. When I started reading it, it was like getting enlightened. When I came across 'Double Your Dating', I wondered whether it was real. I decided to do something for myself, and not falling prey to any advice. I was better looking than some guys who were into a relationship. The book is used as a reference for anyone who find understanding women difficult.įor one, I didn't taste success with women for quite a lot of time. Karl Kerenyi identifies Kore with the nameless "Mistress of the labyrinth", who probably presided over the palace of Knossos in Minoan Crete. She was later conflated with Kore ( Persephone), "the maiden", the goddess of the Eleusinian Mysteries, in a life-death rebirth cycle which leads the neophyte from death into life and immortality. A similar word is the title Despoina, "the mistress", which was given to the nameless chthonic goddess of the mysteries of Arcadian cult. The word was inherited by Classical Greek from Mycenean Greek with the same meaning and it was applied to several goddesses. Okay… *wheretostartwheretostartwheretostart*…. Needless to say, when Helen reach out with an opportunity to read her next dark, twisty story about a deadly competition steeped in siren lore…. If you want to read her backlist, my review of Heart of Mist (book 1 of The Oremere Chronicles) can be found here ( Summary: READ IT). I had the absolute privilege of reading The Oremere Chronicles in advance and have been hooked ever since. My Thoughtsįirst and foremost, I am SUCH a fan of Helen Scheuerer. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review. But reading the novel is a very different experience to seeing the film. The original movie follows certain elements of the book’s plot quite closely. Is that what Pierre Boulle had in mind when he wrote Planet of the Apes? It’s possible. The concept spawned an entire franchise that was rebooted this century. The original Planet of the Apes movie, starring Charlton Heston, wowed audiences in 1968, and its shocker of a twist ending became one of the most iconic and celebrated moments in cinema history. It’s fitting that French author Pierre Boulle’s other most famous work, The Bridge on the River Kwai (which was of course based on a true story) also received a hugely-successful big screen adaptation. To confess my ignorance from the outset, before reading The Folio Society’s lavish new edition of Planet of the Apes, I had no idea that it had originated as a novel. If cocky dragon shifters, steamy scenes, and snarky heroines who refuse to choose anything less than ALL their heart's desires offend. or kill the man? Everyone assumes on first shift, I'll turn into a squirrel. The first draft lacked tension, lacked drama, and wasn't about much except seeing the Grand Canyon. In the first draft, for example, the kids never ditched out on their adult leader. Downriver didn't come together for me right away. I had plenty of knowledge about the rapids, the conditions, the plants and animals, and so on, but that doesn't make a story. Not exactly! I wanted to share my love of the Canyon with kids, but didn't know how at first. So, writing a whitewater novel for you must have been like Granite's a 9 on the Grand Canyon rating scale of 1-10. The Grand Canyon is wilderness -no picnic tables, no campgrounds, and definitely no fast-food stops! There are more hikes than you could do in a lifetime, and rock walls at the bottom that are close to two billion years old! It's a 225-mile trip with 160 rapids to run, like Granite Rapid, shown in the photo. These are trips we plan ourselves, taking along everything we'll need for up to 18 days. Each time we go, we travel with a small group of friends, usually four to eight people, although we've done a few trips with groups of fifteen, and one all by ourselves, just the two of us and our raft. My wife, Jean, and I have been fortunate enough to take our own raft down through the Grand Canyon ten times. Both of these stories take place in the Grand Canyon. |
